FAIRMONT - Jan. 29 - Fairmont Senior's girls head coach, Jon Cain, has announced their 2nd annual preseason scrimmage tournament for boys and girls teams. The Mountain State Meltdown Lacrosse Tournament will be held Saturday, March 13 at Fairmont State University & East West Stadium. The girls teams will play at Fairmont State, while the boys teams will play at East West.

Charleston - Jan. 22 - Missy Burdette, George Washington Girls Head Coach, has consented to head up the girls high school All American selection process. Now that the West Virginia Chapter of US Lacrosse is official, we are allowed to select boys and girls All Americans and Academic All Americans. The number of All Americans allowed are based on the number of varsity level programs active in the chapter. Other awards include, Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, and Person of the Year.

Baltimore - Jan. 16 - Erin Sturgis, Director of Chapter Relations of US Lacrosse, announced today that the West Virginia Chapter of US Lacrosse is no longer a "provisional" chapter. Jeannie Dreisbach, WV Chapter President said, "We have survived our year as a provisional member and have complied with all US Lacrosse requirements." She added, " We are all excited. We can now have boys and girls high school All Americans and Academic All Americans, among other things."
Dreisbach, the Head Coach of University High's girls team, was at the US Lacrosse Convention in Baltimore this weekend to attend chapter functions and instructional sessions for coaches & officials  Also attending from West Virginia were Steve Odekirk, George Washington High School Boys Head Coach, Sam Sutton and Brad White, Asst. Coaches GW boys, Phil Wright, Capital Boys Head Coach, and Jeff Dreisbach, University High Boys Head Coach.

Morgantown - Jan. 12 - The West Virginia University Men's Lacrosse Club and the WV Chapter of US Lacrosse is very excited to announce a series with Marshall to be played in Charleston, "The Capital Classic-Lacrosse Style". The game scheduled for Saturday March 13th at noon, will be played at Shoenbaum Field at Coonskin Park.

The really exciting aspect of this game is that the student-athletes from West Virginia and Marshall are going to conduct a free lacrosse clinic for high school and middle school players immediately following the game. They look forward to meeting the players, coaches, and families of the Kanawaha Valley Lacrosse teams.

The clinic will last approximately an hour and a half to two hours. Participating players will need to bring helmet, gloves, stick, and all necessary pads and mouth guards. West Virginia is working on their woman's team to accompanying them so that they can work with the girl's teams.

They are also attempting to put together a tailgate dinner following the clinic. This would allow time for a question and answer session between the high school and college players.
