BUCKHANNON - June 7 - Karli Brentlinger, the head coach of the West Virginia Wesleyan's lacrosse team, has announced the date for their summer skills camps for girls.

BETHLEHEM, PA. - June 15 - University High players, Grant Thompson and Mack Fall, are playing on a travel team comprised of mainly of Sewickley Academy (Pa.) and Kiski School (Pa.) players. The team, Rivers Lacrosse, played in the 2014 Lehigh Laxfest Tournament at Lehigh University Sunday, June 15th. The team won the High School Varsity Division.
       There were 29 teams in the division and Rivers Lacrosse ended up in the championship game against Bucks Select (Bucks, PA). Both teams were undefeated (5-0 on the day) coming into the championship game. Rivers Lacrosse won the game 5-1. Thompson scored 2 goals and an assist while Fall added a goal.


CHARLESTON - June 17 - What do coaches & former players do when the season is over?
They go out and beat on each other once a week! Any old laxers in the Charleston area can join these guys on Sundays around 5 PM at Capital High if you feel the need to work up a sweat.

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY - July 1 - The Mountaineer Lacrosse team, a travel team made up of players from the southern West Virginia high school teams, participated in the Bluegrass Lacrosse Festival last weekend. The tournament had over 100 teams broken into several divisions on 16 fields. In addition to Kentucky and West Virginia, teams came from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Alabama and Georgia.

Mountaineers at the FIL World Championship in Denver

DENVER, COLORADO - July 10 - Thomas Moore & Chuck Scatterday hooked up yesterday at the FIL World Championship in Denver. Moore, the Morgantown High boys head coach and teacher at Clay Battelle High School, moonlights as the Turkish National team's head coach.
       Scatterday, the founder of the Wheeling Area Lacrosse Association (WALA) is working this week as the Broadcast Center Liaison for all television partners, ESPN, ESPNU, e3, Altitude Network, Coaching Aide, syndication and local affiliates. He will be working directly with FIL and US Lacrosse to help document the games around the world

DENVER, COLORADO - July 13 - Capital High's Fernando Martinez is playing for Team Spain this week at the FIL World Championship in Denver.
       Martinez was 2014 WVSLA - Division 2 - First Team All State,  scoring 16 goals and 6 assists this past season.

GATLINBURG, TENNESSEE - July 20 - Last weekend, girls from George Washington, Morgantown and Buckhannon-Upshur participated in the first ever Smoky Mountain Lacrosse Classic at the beautiful, brand new Rocky Top Sports World in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The girls had never before practiced together as a team, but played beautifully and ended 4-2, and in second place. All are hoping to go back in October for the Fall Mountain Classic!

PHILIPPI, Aug. 8 - Alderson-Broaddus men's head coach Chris Lukas has announced that he has added Daniel Moriarty to be his assistant coach for the Battlers. - Full story here

BETHANY, Aug. 11 - Bethany College announced this summer that they will be joining the newly formed Ohio River Lacrosse Conference. The Bisons will be the only West Virginia team in the conference. The conference will launch Sept. 1, 2014 - Full story here


GREENSBURG, PA. - Aug. 19  - Morgan Cain, a 2009 graduate of Fairmont Senior High, has been named an assistant coach for Seton Hill University's women's varsity team.
     Cain was a WVSLA star. She was a three year letterman at Fairmont Senior and a first team All State midfielder in 2008 and 2009.  She was MVP in two girl's championship games, 2008 vs. University and 2009 vs. Morgantown.
     She excelled in her years at Seton Hill, scoring 37 goals and 30 assists for the Griffins in 2014. Always a top scorer for the team, she led the Griffins in scoring in 2011. She had 166 goals and 58 assists in her career at Seton Hill.
