6th Annual WVSLA ALL STAR GAME
WHEELING, May 31 - The 6th Annual WVSLA All Star Game at Wheeling Jesuit University started off slowly as the players got used to each other. The Gold team opened up with a goal by Morgantown's Ruan Venter, assisted by fellow Mohigan Will Andrews, with only a minute and 15 seconds gone in the first quarter. Wheeling Central's Patrick Hurley added another, assisted by Jordan Patrick (Linsly). Tyler Bauer, from the leagues' newest team, John Marshall, scored the Blue team's first goal, assisted by University's Mack Fall to keep the contest close. The first quarter ended with a 3-1 Gold team lead.

The teams traded goals in the second quarter which left Gold ahead 4-3 to end the half.

It seemed like Gold might run away with the game when Mack Fall took 3 quick faceoffs to open the third period. The first resulted in an assist by Fall to Will Painter (Hurricane) for a goal with 7 seconds gone. Then it was Fall to Sam Skinner (GW) to Painter for another goal eight seconds later. Fall's third face-off resulted in another possession for Blue. The teams traded goals with George Washington's Andy Aloise tieing it up at six with an assist by his GW teammate Sam Skinner.

Four minutes and 16 seconds later, Fall scored unassisted to give the Blue team the lead for the rest of the game. Blue ended the quarter up 9-7.

Gold was able to create a small run in the fourth quarter, by scoring the last two goals of the game. Devin Lenky (Linsly) scored with 5:54 left, assisted by Patrick Hurley (Wheeling Central). Jordan Look (BU) added another goal 57 seconds later, assisted by Ruan Venter (Morgantown). Gold able to get off a few shots before the end, but Fairmont Senior's goalie, Brandon Ralston, was able to stop whatever was thrown at him.

Halftime featured the awards presentations for the West Virginia Chapter's All Americans, Coach of the Year and other awards. Mike Cochran, Senior Manager for US Lacrosse's Eastern Region, presented the awards. Go here for the USL Awards page.

The WVSLA and  the West Virginia Chapter of US Lacrosse thanks Wheeling Jesuit University and Kevin Dugan, Wheeling Jesuit's head coach, for hosting the 6th annual All Star game.
